Stage 1: Education!

In our continuing effort to improve the Grand River Water Shed and the angling in it, GRB&T is putting on a number of seminars, classes and clinics. Don't see an event that peaks your fancy? Tell us what you want information on, and we'll try to get some expertise in on that subject.

Calling All Kids [Feb 11, 2010]

Location: 526 E. Grand River Ave, Lansing, MI 48906

Time: 6:00 pm

Retired professional fly fishing guide and fly tier, Al Doll has offered to share his expertise with the youth of our community and we’re taking him up on his offer! This seminar is a “hands on” event for the kids! Please bring your children for an evening of fly tying and fishing instructions. This is a great opportunity for us to share our passion for fishing with the future of our sport. Don’t worry…we’ll wrap up the event by 8:00 p.m. so they won’t miss their bedtime! Just bring an eager child and we’ll supply the fun!!


Fishing Tube Flies [Feb 25, 2010]

Location: 526 E. Grand River Avenue, Lansing MI 48906

Time: 6:00 pm

In this seminar presentation, professional tube fly tier and Grand River guide Tony Pagliei will demonstrate how to properly fish tube flies in all water conditions. Tony will cover pattern selections, rigging techniques and fishing strategies so your next tube fly experience will be successful! Plus, he’s going to bring back the TFT Swim Tank for an encore appearance! Yes, you can bring some of your TF’s for a swim too!!


Common Carp! [Mar 20, 2010]

Location: Education Center

Time: 5:00 pm

Join us on Saturday, the 20th of March for an evening devoted to the pursuit of Michigan's most exciting "newly-discovered" gamefish: Common Carp! Carp Anglers Group/michigancarp.com experts and seasoned Carp-angling "professors" Dru Gadd and Andy "Tree" Solamon, as well as our own Carp-on-the-fly veteran and guide, Tony Pagliei, will discuss everything Carp, from basic tackle to bait-making to the right time and place fish. Bring your own questions; our instructors will be happy to answer them! Come and discover why so many anglers in Michigan and across the country are discovering the joys of catch-and-release Carp angling! Seminar is free. Children welcome. (Carp-angling is among the most family-friendly of fishing experiences!) 6:00 pm, at our "Education Center" (old Fly Shop building), right next door to our main store.


Fishing Licenses [Apr 01, 2010]

Don't forget to get your new MDNR fishing licenses before April 1st. Remember, if you buy 4 licenses on the same bill the DNR gives a 15% discount!
