Fishing Report for the week of 07/21/2010BassLargemouth Bass are starting to hit the top water. Fly Fisherman should try a mouse pattern or a large popper. For the lure lovers out there, try a Snag Proof Mouse or Hawg Dawg. Smallmouth are doing better now than ever. Reports of 20-30 of these hard fighting fish coming out of the Grand River walk into our doors daily. Northern Pike & WalleyePike have been eating up big minnows all over. Top producing sites are The North Lansing Dam at the Brenke Fish Ladder and the Red Cedar River from Pennsylvania down to the mouth. Walleye are hitting hard and often, especially late at night. Hit your favorite spots and expect a few of the resident walleye on the end of your stringer. Try crawlers or leeches on harnesses at dawn and dusk. PanfishThe Panfish are off their beds and heading back into deep water. Fish a weighted hook under a slip bobber off the edge off weed beds, and you're sure to catch a bunch. A noticeable transition from redworms to butterworms has been noticed. Catfish & CarpIt's a bottom fishing paradise out there this month. I've seen a half dozen 20+ Cats pulled out of the Grand this season, and more Carp than you could hope for. If you want to hook up on a monster, come talk to one of our experts. TroutGood stories about Browns and Brookies are coming out of the woodwork. Where can you hook up on one of these beauties? Try the Pierre Marquette and the Au Sable. |
Upcoming EventsNo Upcoming Events Details / See AllFeatured Product: Pro Swim Baits"You all have heard the latest rage in bass fishing- it's the swimbait . . . As you slow crank our bait it starts the tail movement immediately . . . In hooking the 3.5 inch ProMinnow, we suggest a 2/0 hook (included in package) with a 3/32 weight. For the 5 inch ProMinnow use a 6/0 with a 1/4 ounce weight (included in package) . . . some pros use a Texas rig with a 1/16th ounce weight, a Carolina and some times just the hook." Those are Pro Swim Baits words, not ours. Simply stated we've found PSB to have the best swimbaits on the market. High quality control and competitive prices are what pushed this product to the top of our list. Make sure to cut open the bottom of the hollow belly bait. This allows the weighted hook needed to fish this properly to be placed inside the body providing a better swimming bait and a more exposed hook for better hooksets. |
